Ammonium Nitrate SpillA large storage tank of liquid ammonium nitrate fertilizer at an agricultural products company ruptured during filling. While no one was seriously injured, the spill contaminated a near-by factory. This forced the factory to shut down for clean up, which resulted in clean up costs and lost manufacturing time costs. The manufacturing company filed suit against the Agricultural Company for these economic and business losses.
Chemaxx and Dr. Fox were hired by the Agricultural Products Company to help their attorneys understand the results of the post-accident analytical testing performed by the manufacturing company and to respond to the reports and opinions of other experts. The case settled prior to trial. Dr. Fox has his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry and specializes in complex industrial chemical accidents and chemical-related consumer product accidents. Dr. Fox has extensive experience in the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, is a Certified (OSHA) Process Hazard Analysis Team Leader and also HAZWOPER trained (hazardous waste) and trained in Department of Transportation Regulations regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.
